Why Porn Addiction Is Dangerous?

Porn is something that gives me great pleasure, and really makes me feel like I’m in heaven. After a days boring work in this tough world, I need to see those wonderful bodies to relax. It’s really a great world, but some people would beg to differ. What is so wrong with it? Why should I quit porn?

This is an interesting question. I have asked myself this many times-”Why should I quit porn?”. If you consider yourself very religious, then that could be a good reason for you to quit. Most religions frown on porn, so it makes sense. However, what if you are non-religious?

If you are non-religious (like myself), then why quit porn? Why turn your back on this wonderful pleasure?

I have pondered this question for many years, and yet I continued watching porn. Years later, however, I realized that porn actually kills. You may find it hard to believe, but there are legitimate harmful side effects. I’ll list a few of those very reasons here, things which can ultimately affect one’s overall life.

1. It kills one’s daily routine
2. It kills the drive to success.
3. It increases anxiety.
4. It reduces one’s self esteem
5. It affects relationships
6. It affects sexual health.
7. It damages functioning of brain

Let’s take a deeper look into each one of these.

When I start watching porn at night, I plan to watch it for a few hours (let’s say two hours). When it gets to be around two hours, I may see a new beautiful girl, or some bizarre acts that I can’t resist. Usually, I figure that I will stop watching after that scene/porn-star. However, after watching, I want to watch more of her or something special. Time keeps on ticking while I’m watching this porn, and eventually I realize that it’s too late, it might even be 5 or 6 in the morning, and that’s when I’ll go to bed. Usually, come the next morning, I can’t do anything on time, I’m lacking energy, I’m tired, and I’ll probably be rushed to get out, if not outright late. Time management is impossible if one is addicted to porn. Porn addiction kills one’s time-management and their daily routine.

When watching porn, one usually would be being relaxed by sensations, as certain parts of our body release certain chemicals, which gives us pleasure. This means we are happy, and it’s because of porn. Seems good, but in truth, it’s more trouble.

How do people, who are not addicted to porn, find happiness? Also, how did people find happiness before porn even existed?

They found happiness by developing certain social skills and by relating and socializing. With porn, one gets happy from artificial sensations, which means they lose the drive to go out and socialize. They get everything they need within their cozy room.

This is okay if one can spend their entire lifetime inside their room. But, this is impractical, as in real life, one must go out. One needs these social skills to be developed at a certain point in order to experience life properly. People who started porn at a young age would certainly have problems because of their underdeveloped social skills. Their lives become unfulfilled because of incompetence. Porn kills a person’s natural vital skills and drive.

As you all know, porn is a close friend of emotions like shame, guilt, fear, and anxiety.

Sometimes, scientific proof varies quite a bit from related theory. Some people ask, “What does porn do wrong?” and, “Why quit this awesome pleasure?” However, if one observes what happens to him/her closely, one will find some truths, truths that theoretically cannot be proven.

Whenever we do something in private that makes us feel a bit nasty, like watching a bizarre porn, it can make an impact on our emotions. We do not know why we feel like that, or why we even do, but there is definitely a feeling. This “unknown feeling” creates a sort of inner tension, and it also makes one feel very guilty after the fact. These negative feelings will eventually increase one’s anxiety levels. In addition, these feelings severely affect one’s self-esteem. This is because with every interaction one experiences with someone else, one starts to feel that something is wrong, or off. Eventually, the person begins to feel inferior to their peers. We can see, then, that a porn addict loses a bit of his self-esteem day by day.

Regardless how much one tries to convince themselves that porn is acceptable, this “unknown feeling” remains. Ironically, the very thing that gives them this “unknown feeling” is actually the thing that gives them pleasure.

How many relationships are ended solely because of porn? In my opinion, one of the major cause of break-ups is porn. With porn, one’s natural attraction to their partner begins to dwindle, and they simply start pretending to “love” with no real passion or interest. Most girls pick up on this tendency early, as girls usually do not like guys who don’t have any returned interest in them. Most girls are attracted to men who seem passionate and truly loving.

How can a porn addict be attracted to a mere girl, or even interested in her? This porn addict is watching wonderfully bizarre acts on a daily basis, acts which cannot be realistically performed with their girlfriend or spouse. Naturally, girls get depressed by the negative, unrealistic attitude of a porn addict, and often, by now, the girlfriend or spouse is fully aware of her partner’s addiction. Knowing these things, can their relationship still be salvaged?

Porn directly affects relationships. Not just relationships with girlfriends/spouses, but with anybody. I personally found my natural tendency to relate to anybody was very much affected by my porn addiction. I’d rather go to my dedicated porn room and enjoy it by myself, than to go out and socialize with my friends.

Slowly, one loses their ability to relate to others. This is yet another convincing reason to quit porn.

Masturbation can cause erection problems. Keeping the penis erect for an extended time creates tension in the testicular tissues. This can cause benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH. This is a common issue in porn addicts, but many may not notice it because the symptoms are not clear during the initial stages. However, if a porn addict were to observe himself while urinating, he might notice slight irritation on the tip of the penis, and occasional traces of blood (RBC) or pus cells in his urine.

Get your urine tested for RBC and pus cells, and, if your urine contains it, it could be the early stage of benign prostatic hyperplasia. If you are a keen porn watcher and masturbator, you should get your urine tested ASAP. I am not exaggerating, eight out of ten porn addicts likely have either prostatic infection or benign prostatic hyperplasia.

This is one of the more common porn-related issues, but several other types of sexual health issues can be a result of one’s porn habits.

This is possibly the greatest danger of porn addition. Brain damage.

Addiction to porn can cause a change in one’s body and brain chemistry. The human body releases certain chemicals when aroused, such as from watching porn, which give us great pleasure. This “pleasure” is the justifying cause as to why an addict continues to enjoy pornography.

While aroused, the body releases chemicals such as dopamine, endorphins, adrenaline, and oxytocin. The presence of these chemicals in one’s system can dramatically affect the way one feels. As a matter of fact, cocaine is known to do the same. There is compelling evidence that watching and enjoying porn alters our biological systems in the same manner that drugs do.

Due to the constant pleasant “feeling” brought on by these chemicals, one may start intentionally watching porn solely to feel this “feeling”, and not for watching the girls. The primary motivation changes. This happens unconsciously, as we feel the urge to watch porn as a means to fulfill the newly created need for these chemicals. This makes the body produce more and more of these chemicals, which, in turn, causes the brain to need them more often than usual. After living for a long time like this, a porn addict could significantly lose a portion of their brain capacity.
